The Jayhawks started their season by traveling to Rockford, IL this past weekend to compete in the OWT Tournament. MCC fell to nationally ranked DII #7 Iowa Central (3-0) and #5 Parkland (3-0) on Friday, August 23rd.
Jayhawk split on Saturday, falling to #2 (DIII) Century (3-0) and found their first win against #11 (DIII) Finger Lakes by winning all three sets.
Freshman, Madison Babinec led the offense for the Jayhawks with 31 kills while sophomore Ana Trevino finished with 23 kills which is good for a hitting percentage of .435. Sophomore Shelbie Schoenborn grabbed 95 assists on the weekend.
Sophomore Kayla Fisk led the team defensively with a total of 37 digs and 4 blocks. Freshman Ellerie Moy added 8 total blocks.
MCC (1-3) will travel to Perrysburg, OH this weekend to compete in the Owens Tournament. Their first home game is September 3rd against Lansing Community College at 6:30pm in Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.
